ALIGN BALLET METHOD creator and artistic director, Michael Cornell, is a graduate of the National Academy of Arts in Champaign, Illinois. After completing a scholarship with the Pennsylvania School of Ballet, Michael joined the innovative BalletMet of Columbus, Ohio.

A few years later, Michael created the ALIGN BALLET METHOD by combining forms of contemporary American ballet training and elements of sports science.

Bjarne Hecht is a former leading dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, English National Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet. Having appeared in numerous productions and world tours, he appeared at Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Beverly Theatre and Universal Amphi Theatre in L.A.

After retiring from dance, he studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in NY and has has been in plays on many NY stages.

When he is not teaching at Align Ballet, he is pursuing film acting.

Bjarne Hecht

Born in Studio City, California, Cleo Magill began her formal training at the Colburn School in Los Angeles where she studied closely with Leslie Carothers and Glenn Edgerton. She then went on to be a trainee with the Joffrey Ballet and had the opportunity to perform with the Tulsa Ballet, each for two years.

Currently residing in Los Angeles, she is dancing professionally with American Contemporary Ballet. Cleo’s most recent repertoire includes the Dying Swan, George Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie, Fred Astaire’s Cheek to Cheek, Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, Edwaard Liang’s Romeo and Juliet, and many more.

Desire is an ALIGN success story. As one of our first students, she excelled in all of our advanced classes and began assisting last year.

Since, she has been promoted to an ALIGN 1 instructor for her knowledge, dedication and communication skills.

She has also publicly performed in the styles of ballroom and African dance. Desire is a true dance machine, and you will love her enthusiasm for movement.

Desire Destefano

After studying ballet in southern California, Grace became the first foreign student at the Korea National University of the Arts Department of Ballet where she studied under Director Sun-hee Kim and other principals.

Grace was also awarded a YAGP Full Merit Scholarship to the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany, and later danced professionally with Stuttgart Ballet and Cincinnati Ballet.

Grace Allison McCarthy

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, Zoe Keijser was exposed to dance at a young age through her father who provided musical accompaniment for classes.

Having found her passion, she attended many summer intensives hosted by renowned schools before moving to Pennsylvania to study at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.

Upon graduation, she joined the Goh Ballet's Youth Company in Vancouver, Canada and danced professionally with the Connecticut Ballet.
