Our current Align Ballet Method levels for our adult ballet classes. All events are offered both live and virtually. During virtual classes instructors can see students and provide individual feedback. You may attend with your camera off for privacy.
You will need to have a free ZOOM account, something sturdy to hold slightly higher then your waist, and room to kick in all directions. You will be emailed a link to the class 30 minutes prior to it’s start time.
INTRO TO BALLET – for total beginners. This 90 minute class is similar to our first class of our ALIGN 1 beginners workshops but lengthened by an extra 30 minutes. The class covers terminology, basic alignment, feet positions, arm positions, and all the exercise of a basic ballet barre. Each class is concluded with a question and answer period. This intro is a great way to get your feet wet and see if ALIGN is for you.
ALIGN 1 and ALIGN 2 Workshops – for total beginners. This progressive 6 class course will develop you 1 time per week for six weeks. Recommended for those who wish to build a solid technical foundation. This is the original adult beginners ballet course that has helped thousands. You master the classical fundamentals and our muscle memory building process will ingrain them into every cell of your body. Align 2 builds on Align 1 and fully prepares students to begin attending our basic open classes.
BASIC BALLET – for those who have attended our workshops or with some training. This material is easy to follow.
ALIGN 4 – (intermediate) is for students who have completed our levels 1 -3 or those who have fairly general knowledge of a basic ballet barre and center. Knowledge of terminology, positions, exercises, body placement, and ability to follow combinations are required but you do not have to have danced with the Bolshoi. You need to be a generally proficient adult ballet dancer.
PRO CLASS – advanced material generally instructed by our founder Michael Cornell. This class develops a dancers dynamic ability and artistic quality. Students should have the ability to quickly replicate company.
ADVANCED VAGANOVA – the Vaganova training technique originates from Russia. We are fortunate to provide space in our studio for Russian ballerina Olga Tozyiakova who is the sole teacher of this class and a master of the Vaganova style. Olga is also the private coach to American Ballet Theater principle dancer Christine Shevchenko.
VIRTUAL JOHN CLIFFORD – our friend John Clifford is not a part of the Align Ballet Method staff or process but we are proud to occasionally host his work from our Los Angeles studio. A NYCB principle from 1966 – 1980 George Balanchine created many original ballets for Mr. Clifford and considered him a protege. John has taught NYCB company class, instructed at the School of American Ballet, and choreographed numerous works for film/television. His classes are specific for advanced technicians. We host John’s virtual classes as special events.
